Which format should be used? It depends mostly of archive
contents.
PDF. Recommended for any kind of archives.
All elements of page layout can be saved. Page appearance is the same
as it was originally printed. It allows full featured electronic archives
with internal and external hyperlinks, footnotes, bookmarks and so on.
XML. Recommended for editions with structured information.
For example: library catalogs and subject directories.
HTML, CHM. Recommended for small editions with illustrations.
TXT. Recommended for editions without illustrations,
formulas, tables, footnotes, indexes.
DJVU. Recommended for fast distribution of scientific
articles.
TIF, GIF, JPG. Recommended for archives and seldom
used editions. Contains maximum information about the original edition
but not-searchable and not-editeble.
These are the standard recommendations. Our experts can help you to choose the right format for your needs.
